Joe grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in 1989.  After working as a social worker in Washington for 3 years he went on to Luther Seminary where he recieved his Master of Divinity in 1998.  Joe and Jill met at Seminary and were married the summer after their graduation.  They have two beautiful daughters.
